Koinonia House

Koinonia House

A brief History

Koinonia House, also called The Mother House, is located in Riruta Satellite, Nairobi. The House was acquired in 1995, being originally a family house has been slowly adapted so that about 15 single people can live in it. The first members of the Community lived together in this House, creating space for interaction, building trust amongst themselves and sharing their understanding and vision of community life.

Not much has changed ever since, yet since most founding members have moved out of the house because of other commitments, the house now hosts the following persons and initiatives:

Kivuli Ndogo: It is a Drop-in Centre where street boys from Riruta Satellite, Kawangware, Kabiria and Dagoretti are welcome on Wednesday Saturdays to wash, attend informal classes and then share a meal. It is a first approach followed by an effort to help them to join a rehabilitation center like Kivuli or others.
