Nafsi Afrika Cultural Group



Nafsi Afrika – Swahili for “The Soul of Africa” – is a group of over 30 professional acrobats and dancers from very poor backgrounds who have participated in several national and international competitions, winning various prizes.

Initially formed by seven members in 2000, the group’s members are specialized in the areas of drumming, dancing and acrobatics. They can organize performances of African traditional dance and acrobatics for more than 2 hours.

Nafsi Afrika’s vision is to empower youths by:

• Embracing their artistic talents and uniting them under a common umbrella to raise awareness about community issues through acrobatic performance.


• Fighting idleness, social ills like drug abuse and crime) and poverty .


• Forming arts-related projects to assist in the rehabilitation of disadvantaged children .


• Nurturing youths into role models and social activists who are instrumental in the positive development of their communities of origin.


• Creating appreciation for and a sense of pride in Africa’s cultural heritage.
