The Centre was established to provide for vocational training for
primary school leavers who failed to qualify for secondary education, as well as children from poor families who could not afford secondary school fees and unemployed members of the society who found themselves too old to join secondary school.
Every year, about 25 students graduate from the centre, most of them hailing from the surrounding Riruta Satellite area.
The Centre’s examinations are conducted by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) from the Kenya Ministry of Works, which also awards official certificates to successful graduates.
